3 - 4:30PM - UP IN THE AIR: 2018 DRONE LAW UPDATE Leader: Brian Rothery, Mark Connot and Christopher Beall,  With an ever-changing drone law landscape you've got to keep up to date.  Our speakers will provide an overview of the laws governing aerial cinematographers, waivers that may be most useful to their operation and various forms of intellectual property available to protect innovations in the field.  In addition, the panel will address legal questions surrounding the use of drone photography for news and media and the First Amendment provisions that safeguard use of this technology.

5-6:30 - DRONES: PUSHING CREATIVE BOUNDARIES Leader: To be announced Aerial cinematography is an incredibly complex artform requiring expertise in camera motion, cinematography, drone technology and piloting skills. Moderated by festival director Randy Scott Slavin, this panel will explore the art and craft of aerial cinematography with some of the most creative drone filmmakers who are competing in the 4th annual New York City Drone Film Festival.

DAY OF DRONES @ LIBERTY SCIENCE CENTER (222 Jersey City BLVD, NJ)

The DAY OF DRONES at the Liberty Science Center is a full day of drone based programming designed to excite every level of drone enthusiast. 

MICRO DRONE RACING- Watch expert pilots navigate an intricate indoor racecourse using First Person View(FPV) technology. Experience the racing first hand by trying a pair of FPV goggles in one of our viewing areas. 

DRONE EXPO - See and touch drones of all sizes and get a first look at  some of the must cutting edge drone technology.

FLIGHT DEMONSTRATION CAGE - Drones of all sizes will be flying throughout. There will also be Q&A's with manufacturers as well as opportunities for Day of Drones attendees to fly drones. 

FILM SCREENINGS - If you missed the screening of the 4th annual New York City Drone Film Festival on March 3rd you'll have a chance to see the winning films In the Liberty Science Centers 250 person theater. 

EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS -  Classes for beginners, intermediate and professional drone users will be available. See below for more info on classes that are available. This list is constantly updating. First come first serve for festival pass holders.

This is the perfect class for people who want to turn their passion for flying drones into a career as a filmmaker.

Using UAVs is relatively easy to take images from different angles and triangulate 3D position. It is also relatively easy to get accurate measurements. In this session you will be introduced to using UAVs for photogrammetry and best practices.

HUMANITARIAN DRONES – An Exposition of Drone Use for Emergency Management Purposes 10:00am - 11:00am Leaders: DANIEL HERBERT & PARKER GYOKERES (Festival Pass required) Drones are amazing tools for disaster response and Hurricane Harvey triggered a huge interest in their use for this purpose. Parker Gyokeres, Daniel Herbert, and a team of other professional drone operators from around the country banded together in an effort to volunteer their time, equipment, and expertise to aid in any way possible during the relief work in Texas. Parker and Daniel are here to explain in detail how to properly integrate civilian operated drones in emergency management scenarios. You will also get to relive some of their journey through never before shared imagery and videos along with stories about the adventure, highlighting the overwhelming devastation and heartbreaking loss that was witnessed.
